Displaying Love in a Practical Way

Yesterday our Women's Ministry gathered to prepare gift baskets for every teacher and staff member at Abbey Reinke Elementary School.

The gift baskets contained practical items that every teacher needs in the classroom, along with gift cards and a few personal touches. Attached to each basket was a short note that expressed our gratitude for their hospitality as we use their facility each week for our Sunday services. Before the evening ended, the group prayed for every teacher by name.

This morning, a smaller group of women had the privilege of personally delivering the baskets as well as providing muffins and refreshments before school in the teacher's lounge. One participant told me that the teachers were clearly touched, even surprised, by these expressions of care.

(I'm not sure what that kid in the orange shirt is doing in the background of this second photo.... I guess when the teacher is distracted anything is possible!)

Almost every week before we receive the offering we pray that God would take the funds that are given and use them to express His love to others. I want to thank the leaders of this effort for implementing the reality of that prayer in such a practical and meaningful way.
