Yesterday I had a great lunch meeting with Jason Stewart, the new Pastor at Temecula Creek Christian Fellowship. The purpose of our meeting was just to get to know each other... we have had such a great relationship with that Church I wanted to take the initiative in welcoming Jason to the community. I found him to be a very warm, friendly, encouraging person, and my impression is that he will be a great shepherd for the people at TCCF.
He gave me a favorite book of his (its really more of a booklet) titled "Agape Leadership". Its the biography of R.C. Chapman, and it is proving to be a challenging and convicting read.
Chapman ministered in England during the mid to late 1800's, and became known as the "Apostle of Love". The various chapters, describing the core values of his ministry, have titles such as "Love for God's Word", "Being Patient and Gentle", "Maintaining Unity", and "Forgiving and Blessing Others". Wow. I am really benefiting from the example of this mans life, and hope God can use his testimony to make me a better servant/leader.
Do you read missionary and Christian leader biographies? If not, I would highly recommend it. Besides the Scriptures, they have been one of God's primary instruments of growth in my life.
