We had dinner one night at the house of a Naga friend, and as they have the reputation for eating anything that moves we weren't sure what to expect. Sure enough, on the table was a bowl of stir-fried bee and bee larva. My friend Jeff Ward posed for the photos, showing first the bee, a close up of the bee (they were big) and finally consumption of the bee. There was a bit of perverse pleasure in eating a bee as we both recalled the many times we had been stung.
If you are wondering about the candle, there was no electricity. The bees were actually quite good, and no, they did not taste like chicken.

hmmm...yummy! admire your bravery--i am not sure i would hae tried them. i liked the title. made me want to read your post--i thought you were gonna review the book or movie for us? happy day!
i find bugs either taste like shell (ie. scorpion) or guts (cicadas). what about the bees? they look like they might hit that sweet middle-ground.
Actually they were quite good. The larva had a slight "liver" taste, which was okay, but the bees were crunchy and tasty... maybe it was just the oil they used for the stir fry. Anyway, I had seconds and thirds so I definitely enjoyed it!
